About Lille
Lille is one of the most stimulating and important cities of Europe. It is the fourth largest city in France and a great place to visit because of its many monuments and museums. Eurostar trains depart at regular intervals from St. Pancras Station in London and it takes just 1 hour 20 minutes to reach the centre of Lille. From Ashford it only takes an hour. Lille is a main railway junction in Europe and lies on the High Speed Eurostar train line to London and the French TGV network to Paris. The two stations in the city, the Gare Lille-Europe and the Gare Lille-Flanders operate trains to Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse and Brussels.

Places to Visit in Lille
The historic cobble streets of Lille are ideal for exploring on foot. A good place to start is the Grand Place, also knon as the Place du Général de Gaulle. You can enjoy a drink at a Coffee House in the Grand Place and then visit Vauban’s Citadel and the Rue de la Monnaie. La Piscine is an intriguing piece of art space set in a former natatorium turned Art and Industry Museum in Roubaix.
Getting Around in Lille
Lille has a realiable and well-organized public transport network consisting of buses, trams and the metro. The Lille Metro is the first automatic metro line in the world, where trains run without drivers. City buses have about 60 different routes, which go as far as the Belgian border. The bus, tram and metro services run every day of the year except the 1st of May. Taxis are commonly available from the airport and the Lille Flandres and Lille Europe train stations.
